Thanks for all the support during Jack's surgery! Here is an update:
Jack got his cast off on December 28th, a few days shy of two weeks from his surgery. Here he is mastering stacking with one hand!
This is what the soft wrap looked like that they did once the cast was off.
Who would have guessed that this little guy also has a double ear infection in this picture? He was quite the trooper until day four of the antibiotics. By then he was done. Done with having medicine forced down him a few times a day like it had been for the past few weeks. He resisted taking medicine and lost interest in eating and his weight dropped more. Thank goodness for caring pediatricians. They gave him a shot of antibiotics and within 24 hours he seemed more like himself then he had in a long time. It has taken him a month to get back up to the weight he was before his ordeals though. (But I guess he doesn't look like he is wasting away;).)
A man for details, here Jack attempts to take off his wrapping. We were able to help him resist the temptation by keeping it covered with a sock (typically holiday themed to keep it festive).
Here was our first time to unwrap and rebandged the hand.
Though sutures aren't pretty, we were pretty impressed with how they looked about 2 1/2 weeks out. (The donor skin was taken from his thigh and that too has healed well.)
We kept his hand wrapped all the time for another week and a half since there were sutures and it seemed tender. It did not limit him much and we became pretty proficient at bandaging his fingers.
