June- The Twins Visit (and they bring Alicia and Brian)

Alicia, a long-time friend from college, joined us for a weekend with her three boys- her husband, Brian and the twins, Sebastian and Riley. Yes, they are identical. It was my first chance to meet the twins and I marveled at their bond and the zone defense best used to watch them.
They were a blast to watch and I am even more impressed with parents of twins. Thank you for visiting us (and for the suggestions on what baby gear is and is not needed)!

May- The Foster's Visit

In May, we had the great priviledge of meeting Sean Elliot Foster- Liz and Preston's son. He was darling, snuggly and so well loved by his parents. Liz and Preston took time out of their hectic visit to stay with us and it was an extremely special time together. We love you guys!

May- Carol's visit

Bonnie's dear friend Carol came out from Colorado to spend Memorial weekend with us. It was so much fun to have her visit. We went to the beach, spent time in downtown Portland, out to a nice dinner and, most importantly, we just got to be around each other. Thank you for a wonderful trip, Carol! (And send me some photos!)

May- Patrick's Graduation Brunch

To celebrate Patrick's graduation, we celebrated with a brunch on Sunday at our place. The Garners, Herinckxs, Bakes and Jordans all joined us celebrating Patrick's accomplishment. It also seemed like the perfect time to tell everyone that we were pregnant!

It was a very special day and we enjoyed celebrating with our siblings (and in-law), parents, niece and nephews.

May- Patrick's Graduation

Patrick did it! He completed his MAT program in one year- and he did it with a 4.0 GPA! I was so proud of and happy for him (and happy to see an end in sight where we would get a chance to spend more time together).

Graduation was held at Pacific's stadium- rain or shine. And, well, it rained!

May- Anniversary Weekend

It is hard to believe that our first year of marriage has already past. Thanks to John and Liz, we spend out anniversary weekend at the darling Old Wheeler Hotel. It was an extremely special time to reconnect and to quietly celebrate together our hopes for our newly discovered pregnancy.

May- Mother's Day

We had a great time celebrating our fabulous moms. Bonnie and MaryAnn took a trip to the Portland Japanese Garden's and learned all about bonsai. The next day we got to take Liz, MaryAnn and Crystal for a hike and a picnic before Liz had to head off to work.

January- April

Possibly the most exciting things to happen over these few months were that we moved out of our apartment and into a house owned by our friend Jason. It was a much needed change and the cats love having a bad yard were they can act like the wild adventurers that they are in their hearts.

Patrick and both celebrated our birthdays over these months as well. Patrick got money towards his tregger fund and Bonnie got money towards a guitar.

November

After a full six months of student teaching and classes for Patrick, it was a wonderful treat to take an overnight get-away to McMinnville to use a gift certificate to Nick's restaurant and to celebrate our first six months of marriage. It was a great time to reconnect and eat amazing food!

September and October

The most exciting thing that happened in the months of September and October was the birth of Henley, Becky and Beau's beautiful son.

In other news, Patrick began his first student teaching placement at Liberty High School working with 9th graders.

August 2009

Bonnie and her two friends from work decided to participate in a sprint marathon. Meginn was the swimmer, Stacie was the biker and Bonnie was the runner. It was a lot of fun!

Patrick's first term was done at the end of August and so we took the chance to get a final summer trip in. We went to Eugene, where we got to spend time with Becky, Beau, Hazel and Donald, and then headed to Waldo Lake. It was an amazing trip before a very hectic year!

JULY 2009- The weddings

Three of the Grovers got married the summer of 2009- Patrick, Ben and John. Here are a few of the highlights from John's wedding.

JULY 2009

Bonnie, Crystal and the boys took a trip up to Idaho for a great visit with the Norbdy family! (Photos- the kiddos at the rodeo; the Bake girls; all the Bake nieces and nephews.)

JUNE 2009

In June of last year, Patrick began his MAT Program at Pacific University and the students I work with graduated from high school! it was an exciting month.
